Nature is healing (but it’s only temporary)
Country wide lockdown
Economic slowdown
Incessant growth
Takes a breather
Meanwhile, online
It's business as usual
Staying afloat
As the world is sinking
The air is fresher
And the rivers are clearing
We fantasise the next round
Of revenge shopping
Mountains were seen
Wild animals spotted
Yet we humans
Remain near-sighted
Craving for life
To get back to “normal”
Forgetting it was
Dim and dysfunctional
How do we bounce back
Restart the destruction
Spend what we saved
In peaceful isolation
Measuring progress with gluttony
Consumption is my right
Only one planet
But greed infinite!
Money money money
Stock markets in a flurry
Nature is healing
But it’s only temporary
We’ve reached a fork in the road
A semicolon
But we only see a speed bump
A minor interruption
Where do we go from here?
To the old days?
Learn this lesson,
Dear forgetful human race
Nature will balance
With us or without
But must we go back
To our destructive ways?
