Fear is a Virus
Fear is a virus
Dormant undisturbed
Invisible, ever present
Just lurking within reach
All it needs
Is the slightest touch
An unsure little nudge
To awaken into a
Full blown panic monster
A giant anxious blur
Twisting your arm
Into hoarding, scavenging, trampling
Twisting your mind
Into worst-case-scenario mapping
Idle daydreams see a dark cloud hover
Now it’s an apocalyptic film in 3D
Imagination running to take cover
All doors locked
Of home and heart
Turning strangers into enemies
Tearing friends apart
Fear divides, breaks,
Segregates
Steals away the calm
Eats up all faiths
Lock yourself all you might
Into a prison airtight
Fear smokes through the cracks
Finds its way inside
Slips under the skin
Gushes through the veins
Clouds all judgement
Snatches the reins
Cracked are the weapons
Of logic and calm
Peace and kindness
Lost in a storm
Fear engulfs inside
Floods outside
Fear paralyses
Hypnotises
We’re stone cold statues
Watching through a tinted glass
Waiting in a limbo
For the storm to pass...
